Military workouts are designed to be difficult. They torture the body into shape, putting you in peak physical condition. Strength and Cardio
Strength training and cardio training are among the best military workouts that you can get. Separately, they are doable exercises that can be staggered throughout the week. Together, they are an extreme workout that will leave you feeling like a Spartan. Well, once you get used to it, that is.
A great place to pull off this kind of military workout is on a hiking trail. This gives you access to trees for pull-ups and plenty of room for sit-ups and push-ups. Oh and there is also sprinting. Start with a full set of push-ups, pull-ups or sit-ups then sprint until you are on fire. Stop and do push-ups, pull-ups or sit-ups once again. Continue this, alternating strength exercises and sprinting for about 30-45minutes. This routine will push you to your utmost limits, so keep in mind, it’s not a walk in the park.
The Obstacle Course
Obstacle courses are synonymous with military training. That is because war is an obstacle course. It is also an extremely intense workout if you do it with speed and endurance. You do not need a military workout course to pull it off. Go to the local playground when there are no children. Run around climbing on the equipment. Run up slides, climb ropes and even use the monkey bars for upper body strength training. Do not pause in-between and leisurely walk between sets. Seriously run around the playground. Crawl, climb, sweat and torture yourself until your muscles are burning; again, military workout is no joke, but your results will truly stun you in a positive way.
Indoor Circuit Training
Military men and women typically do not train indoors. However, civilians looking for a military-style workout certainly can. Go to the gym and alternate multiple exercises without resting in-between, sort of like a high intensity interval training routine. Incorporate the following exercises: Lunges, bench presses, squats, push-ups, pull-ups, jogging, stretching, sit-ups, leg curls, extensions, boxing and anything else that gets your heart pumping. Remember, the goal is less fat, more muscle and flexibility.
