One of the biggest complaints about going to the gym is having to deal with the aftermath of what it does to your post workout hair. Working out typically turns my perfectly polished hairstyle into a big sweaty, matted mess. Luckily there are plenty of quick, easy things that can be done to get your strands back into tip top shape after a workout. Don’t let your hair be an excuse for not getting a good workout anymore! Follow these five simple tips for freshening up your post workout hair:
Go For the Wet Look
Fortunately, the “wet look” has become super stylish so dampening your hair quickly in the locker room is another great option. You can add pomade or a gel to the top of your hair and comb it back into a slick, sophisticated looking style. You can also add these products to your hair to turn messy post workout hair into a sleek ponytail.
Blow Dry Your Roots
Using a blow dryer to quickly dry your roots is a great quick fix. It will help nix dampness until you get a chance to wash your hair and style it. Since sweat and oil makes hair look much flatter you can add a volumizing product to the roots and use a round brush to bring volume back to your hair. Hold the brush firmly at your roots and pull in an upward motion as you freshen up your roots with the dryer.
A great dry shampoo is one of the very best solutions for fixing up your hair after a workout. Dry shampoos help to absorb sweat and excess oil to cut down on grease and bring volume back to your roots. Some dry shampoos come in varying shades so make sure that you pick the one that best matches your hair. Make sure you toss a comb in your gym bag to help section off your hair and spritz on the product. You will want to divide your hair up into equal sections and spray the dry shampoo from at least 12 inches away. Massage the product into your roots and your hair will immediately look refreshed. Baby powder is a great alternative to dry shampoos for blondes.
Go for a Beachy Look
Create an intentional messy texture in your hair after working out. Keep a spray bottle with water and a texturizing spray in your gym bag. You can simply spritz your hair with water and then add a bit of texturizing product. Scrunch your hair and let it air dry for a beachy, wavy texture that takes away the grunge and leaves your hair looking glamorous!
Freshen Just the Bangs
Quickly wash the front section of your hair in the sink and let it air dry. This tends to be the section of hair that collects the most sweat and makes your hair look greasy. Simply washing the bang section of your hair will make your hair look fresh and clean. You can even pull your hair back in a headband to keep it out of your face while it is drying.
By following these easy tips you can make your hair look freshly styled and fabulous after working out without any more hassle. Many brands even carry products that are specifically formulated to freshen up gym hair. There’s no need to worry about planning your workouts around your beauty routine anymore!
