Lower back pain may be associated with the lower back muscles, discs between vertebrae, bony lumbar spine, skin around the lumbar area, ligaments around discs and spine, internal organs in the pelvis and abdomen, and nerves near the spinal cord.  Here are some tips to relieve your lower  back pain:

Apply heat or ice to the affected area

Studies have shown the both heat and ice can alleviate lower back pain. Applying any of the two to the affected area will provide comfort, reduce swelling and inflammation. Heat, in the form of heating pads, dilates the blood vessels and this, in turn, increases the supply of oxygen to the back to lessen muscle spasms. On the other hand, an ice pad decreases the size of the blood vessels and the flow of blood to the affected area.

Exercise to alleviate the pain

People who have pain in the lower back need to exercise regularly to maintain mobility. It is best to consult a physical therapist so he/she can recommend different exercises for lower back pain such as strengthening the abdominal muscles and stretching exercises to boost mobility and reduce stiffness. Leg lifts can minimize pain. Aerobics can also be beneficial for overall well-being.

Support the lower back while resting in bed

To reduce or prevent pain in the lower back, it is best to replace a mattress every 5 to 7 years. Many people who have done this have noticed a significant improvement. In choosing a mattress, people have to make sure that it is firm enough to support the back in the same position as the right standing posture.

Carry heavy load the right way

People who carry heavy shoulder bags are prone to experiencing pain in the lower back. If this contains the things they need each day, this should be carried the right way.
