Coaching Nightmare: Teams with a Consistent Losing Streak

Some teams just can’t seem to become winning sports teams, no matter the circumstances. Maybe they lack the talent to become big, or maybe there just aren’t enough funds to afford equipment and players they need. For some sports teams, coaches have to find a way to pick up the pieces of a broken franchise. An online coaching program can provide some aid, but the coaches must be able to turn the teams around completely. Consider these teams that have been on tremendous losing streaks and what efforts have been tried to save them.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates

Prior to the 2013 season, the Pirates let their fans down for 20 straight seasons. No other team in the history of North American professional sports can match their string of losing. The once proud franchise stayed in the doldrums for 20 straight seasons. They traded the few good players they had and failed to draft new ones to replace them. The Pirates are off to a slow start in 2014, so they may be headed for another streak of losing. Their fans hope head coach Clint Hurdle can steer the ship correctly again.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are certainly he lovable losers in the NFL. After losing four consecutive Super Bowls in the early 1990s, the Bills continued to disappoint the loyal people of Buffalo. They have not finished with a .500 season or better since 2004. Ten years is a long time to lose in the NFL, especially when you keep getting high draft picks. The Bills have also never won a Super Bowl in their sad history. The people of Buffalo deserve more, but it’s up to the coach to help them win again like they did in the old days.

Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns

The Browns haven’t been relevant in the NFL for a very long time. In fact, the Cleveland Browns have a record of 79-163 since they entered the league again in 1999. Cleveland fans are the epitome of a snake-bitten fan base. They experienced The Drive by John Elway, Art Modell moving the team in the middle of the night in 1995, and so many busted draft picks. They always seem to lose to their most hated rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hopefully fresh perspective and new coaches with an Ohio University Masters in coaching will be able to make the turnaround for this team.

Coaching one of these teams comes with many challenges. A coach looking for the experience of a lifetime may just be able to turn one of these teams around for good. Some of the best sports stories are ones of underdogs that have been able to rise again. With a lot of hard work, talent, and coaching, perhaps one of these teams can make a heroic comeback.
